About the Journal

African Journal of Basic & Translational Clinical Sciences (AJBTCS) is a peer-reviewed, open-access, semi-annual journal of the Faculty of Basic Clinical Sciences, College of Medicine, University of Lagos. The journal is dedicated to advancing knowledge across the full spectrum of medicine, with a primary focus on translating scientific discovery into practical applications that improve health outcomes in Africa and other low- and middle-income settings.

AJBTCS provides a platform for high-quality, methodologically sound research that bridges basic science and clinical care. It publishes original research articles, systematic reviews, case reports, commentaries, and short communications spanning basic biomedical sciences, foundational clinical sciences, translational and preclinical research, molecular and clinical laboratory diagnostics, epidemiology, and implementation research. The journal also features educational research that informs teaching, assessment, and curriculum development in the basic clinical sciences.
